Weekly Ceili Dances
Every Wednesday, 7:30-9:30PM
Tapestry Folkdance Center
Pay-What-You-Can ($10 suggested donation)
Every week, you can find us organizing and calling Irish (and Irish-adjacent) social dancing, also called Céilí (pronounced KAY-lee) dancing, somewhere around the Twin Cities. Céilí dancing isn’t your performative, Riverdance-esque Irish dancing; it’s dancing that everyone can do! In Irish, “céilí” stems from the word meaning celebration, céilí dances are often associated with weddings, festivals, and other celebratory events where large numbers of people come together to dance and socialize.
We have many knowledgeable callers and even more experienced dancers who love bringing new people into the dancing. Every dance is taught beforehand and called throughout, so you will be supported the entire time! Check out the video to the right to get a first-hand view of what it’s like to be in a céilí dance!
Please check out of calendar for more information on our upcoming dances! Our dances are always pay-what-you can, but we suggest a $10 donation if you can swing it!
